AT&T Inc.(T) – the second largest telecom operator in the U.S.- has tied up with AirOn technology to offer single worldwide SIM service to the subscribers, who are always traveling abroad to boost the company’s service offerings.
AT&T will be offering the new service through its new global platform called AT&T Control Center powered by Jasper Wireless. Moreover, with the support of AirOn technology, the device manufacturers can easily connect via single SIM card to different networks across the world.
Availability of a single SIM service will make things even easier for these business class travelers, who very often have to change their SIM while traveling abroad. Owing to the new deal, accessing internet, WiFi and international calls without removing the existing SIM card from the handset have become possible. For management purposes, the new tech puts forward worldwide diagnostic, monitoring and alert/response features alongside hardware.
AT&T's single worldwide SIM solution, announced earlier this year, is projected to offer the advantage of using a local or in-country network to the corporate people whereas overseas, resulting in more effective distribution of their connected consumer devices and (M2M) products. Furthermore, through roaming agreements with hundreds of carriers across the world, the company offers global wireless access in more than 200 countries.
Stiff competition from Verizon Communication Inc. (VZ) and other large carriers in the U.S. have forced AT&T to continuously enhance its product and service offerings. Moreover, strong demand for Apple Inc’.s (AAPL) new 4GLTE-based iPhone 5 has induced AT&T to aggressively deploy 4GLTE network across the U.S.
