AlmaLasers Receives FDA Clearance for PixelRF Breakthrough Technology in Skin Resurfacing

New PixelRF Micro Plasma Radiofrequency Technology Improves Skin Imperfections Without Skin Color Limitations

PR Newswire

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — The future of fractionated skin resurfacing is finally here – a fast, innovative technology that delivers results for all skin types with minimal patient downtime and discomfort. Alma Lasers, Inc., a provider in laser, light, and radiofrequency aesthetic and medical devices, is pleased to announce the introduction of the new PixelRF fractionated skin resurfacing module for its Accent family of products.

PixelRF uses proprietary InMotion Refractive Radiofrequency Micro Plasma Technology, which both ablates and heats the skin through controlled, focused delivery of energy without using disposables. Healthy skin around the treated area helps to accelerate the healing process thus improving results and reducing patient down time by allowing the need for just the targeted tissue to heal and collagen to strengthen. The result is fresh, smooth, radiant skin.

With its high-energy output, the PixelRF can achieve in as little as one session what would require multiple sessions with other RF technologies. Not only is it highly effective to use on all skin types (Fitzpatrick I–VI) but treatments can be administered year-round with no seasonal restrictions. Unlike dermal rollers or low power bi-polar RF applicators that superficially ablate and heat the skin, the PixelRF causes evaporation, mechanical damage and thermal damage deep beneath the epidermis surface providing significant dermal impact with minimal epidermal disruption.

“PixelRF technology has given us another dimension in the fight against aging,” says Nashville, TN dermatologist Dr. Michael Gold, MD. “Since fractionated resurfacing with RF technology does not harm the skin’s outer layer, the healing time is faster than traditional CO2 lasers. As we noticed during our study, the micro plasma technology creates multiple, controlled microperforations within small zones of thermal injury, similar to the pattern created by many fractionated skin resurfacing lasers. During the procedure, just a small portion of the tissue is ablated. The remaining tissue supplies the healing that leads to the elimination of irregular epidermal pigmentation, tightening of dermal collagen and the smoothing that results from the stimulation of the skin’s deeper layers. The fact that patients are experiencing less discomfort and a shorter down-time has made this technology a hit in my practice.”

“Technology is constantly evolving and we’re committed to staying on the forefront of delivering the most advanced, efficacious solutions that enhance clinical outcomes, promote positive patient experience while maximizing return on investment for the practice at low cost with no disposables,” said Avi Farbstein, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Alma Lasers. “The PixelRF module adds new versatility to the Accent platforms. Practitioners now have the multiple technologies they need for an overall best-in-class treatment depending on each individual client’s age, skin condition and downtime preference.”

Patients are recommended to undergo 1 – 4 Alma Laser’s PixelRF treatments, administered every four weeks. Optimal results are typically seen in two to three months.
