BOSTON, Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The American Academy of Dermatology is holding the Summer Academy Meeting 2012, its summer scientific meeting, in Boston, through August 19, at the Hynes Convention Center at 900 Boylston Street. World-renowned dermatologists will present information on the latest research in the diagnosis and medical, surgical and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions.

As part of the Academy’s “Dermatology in Action” service initiative that gives back to the cities in which the Academy hosts its scientific meetings, a shade structure grant has been awarded to Mattahunt Elementary School in Mattapan, Mass. The shade structure, funded by La Roche-Posay, will provide students with protection from the sun’s dangerous rays. In addition, the school will receive signage to educate the community about ways to protect themselves from the sun, such as seeking shade, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30, and wearing protective clothing.
