AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — FirstMerit Corporation (Nasdaq: FMER) announces the appointment of Michael G. Robinson as Executive Vice President, Wealth Management Services. Prior to joining FirstMerit, he spent 27 years at JP Morgan Chase where he held a number of leadership roles within the company’s wealth management business.

Robinson is responsible for all aspects of Wealth Management Services, including Private Banking, First Family, FMER Financial Services, Trust and Trust and Investment Management Services. He will report directly to Paul G. Greig, chairman, president and CEO of FirstMerit Corporation.

Robinson earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Eastern Michigan University and his master’s degree in Estate and Financial Planning at the College of Financial Planning in Denver. He is an active member of his community. He currently resides in Macomb, Mich., and will relocate to Northeastern Ohio.
