PPG Industries Inc.’s (PPG) brand, PPG Porter Paints, has launched the Nashville Color Collection, representing 75 different shades of Nashville landscapes. The palette includes wide hues of shades comprising the ones that are used in traditional bungalows as well as those used in modern communities.
The Nashville Color Collection represents the city’s architecture while providing the homeowners a choice to select the shades that make their homes unique. The collection has been designed to suit the Nashville lifestyle. Further, the collection reflects the city’s musical roots and one of its palettes “Cafe Blue” is inspired by the famous Blue Bird Cafe, a popular venue for up coming country music stars.
The Nashville Color Collection is part of PPG Porter Paints Voice of Color Program. The Voice of Color offers an online experience to the homeowners, who can decide and select the colors as per their tastes and preferences that will reflect their style. The palettes are offered in signature five-color Harmony chips to coordinate colors for all the decor elements in their space.
Recently, PPG also launched its first mobile application called ‘The Voice of Color’ for iPhone, iPad and Android users. The application provides homeowners with an intuitive, on-the-go color resource.
The free application showcases the company’s Voice of Color collection, while allowing the users to order and ship 8”x12” sample color sheets directly from the application. The tool also allows users to take/upload inspiring photos for instantly matching with one of the company’s 2,000 color shades. Further, the company stated that the program will also offer suggestions for similar and complementary shades based on the selection.
Currently PPG maintains a Zacks #3 Rank, which translates into short-term (1 to 3 months) Hold rating. We reiterate our Neutral recommendation on the stock for the long-term (more than 6 months). The company faces stiff competition from the DuPont Performance Coatings segment of EI DuPont de Nemours & Co. (DD) and BASF Coatings AG.
