Aesthetic products company Syneron Medical (ELOS) recently announced that its “elure” advanced skin lightening products have clinched the prestigious “Best of Beauty award” in Allure magazine. The Israel-based company has won the award for both the elure advanced skin -lightening lotion and the elure advanced lightening night cream in the “Big Breakthroughs” category.

Allure is a leading beauty magazine for U.S. women with a reader base of more than 1 million. According to Syneron, both the elure products will be showcased in the October edition of this popular magazine.

Based on a naturally occurring bio-active substance “Melanozyme”, elure is a next-generation topical skin-lightening product of outstanding efficacy and a proven safety profile. It is a clinically-proven enzymatic skin lightening therapy which targets and decomposes melanin to expose a visibly lighter and exceptionally glowing skin tone. Skin lightening is among the fastest growing segments of the global beauty industry.

Syneron offers a comprehensive product portfolio and a global distribution setup. Its knowledge allows medical practitioners to provide sophisticated solutions for a wide range such as wrinkle reduction, hair removal and body contouring. It faces some competition from Cutera (CUTR) among others.

The company’s revenues for second-quarter fiscal 2011 surged roughly 24% year over year to $60.6 million. The healthy growth was fueled by strong sales from its Emerging Business Units (“EBU”) segment. Revenues from the EBU unit more than doubled on a sequential basis, in part, boosted by higher sales of the elure products.

The company recently has won the approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) to market its new Tanda Luxe Light Emitting Diode (“LED”). The new skin rejuvenation system has been cleared for over-the-counter (“OTC”) treatment of periorbital (surrounding the eye) wrinkles, rhytides and fine lines. The company plans to start marketing the device in the prestige retail market in the fourth quarter.

Syneron markets Tanda products, directly to customers, through premium retailers. Its product line-up includes items for skincare for both the home-use and professional segments. The company markets and supports its products in about 86 nations.
