Push-To-Talk Gains Traction at DecisionPoint

Ken Nagy, CFA

DecisionPoint (DPSI) designs, sells, installs and services voice and data communications products and systems for private networks and wireless broadband systems to a wide range of enterprise markets, including retail, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, wholesale and distribution. The combination of its blue chip portfolio of customers as well as the reverse merger combination has the firm projecting the top-line to nearly double to $100 million.

Grapevine Push-to-Talk technology is DecisionPoint’s “always on” communications solution delivering Push-to-Talk capability as data over the Internet across unrelated carrier and Wi-Fi networks.

The Company’s cloud based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product enables instant global voice communications over a range of mobile devices and PCs and is designed to work with the user’s existing cellular data connection or an 802.11 wireless network.

The Grapevine Push-to-Talk solution offers a number of key features including a private and secure network with voice encryption; scalability that allows communication with thousands of individuals and group participants at once; voice history where the user can replay previous conversations; interoperability anywhere in the world across all WWAN, and Wi-Fi networks at the same time (including over different carriers); and is an SaaS managed service requiring no hardware or overhead.

DecisionPoint’s latest push to talk technology release was its Grapevine Push-to-Talk client for the Android operating system.

The Android client runs on Android v1.6 and above, including Honeycomb, a popular tablet-oriented Android version.

The Android client builds off of the success of the Company’s Windows Mobile client and BlackBerry client that were released earlier in the year and is interoperable with both the Windows Mobile and BlackBerry clients.

Furthermore, the Company’s Push-to-Talk technology may be proving to be a likely growth driver for DecisionPoint.

In an attempt to increase overall margins as well as gross profit, DecisionPoint is leveraging its Grapevine Push-to-Talk technology.

The Company’s strategy is to combine its push to talk technology with some of the major mobile provider’s other products and services.

DecisionPoint’s Grapevine Push-to-Talk Technology is currently being included in product bundles co-sold with tier one cellular carriers.

Similarly, the Company has created demo accounts that are being used by leading device manufacturers including Motorola.
