MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Chad Johnson, Mission Viejo High School head football coach and chairman of the board of South County Trojans Youth Football, announced today that Dereck Curtis, former president of Mission Viejo Cowboys Youth Football is contributing the Cowboys’ 501c3 non-profit entity to a shared vision with the South County Trojans. Curtis is partnering in this vision as a continued board member with the Trojans and will also coach what will be a powerhouse SC Trojans 12U division.

“We are excited to partner with key people from the Cowboys organization to build upon the epic 32- year history the Mission Viejo Cowboys enjoyed as they dominated Southern California elite play for decades,” said Chad Johnson. “The Cowboys left an indelible mark on Orange County club-level youth football, and we are proud to have their legacy live on within the heart of the South County Trojans.”

In conjunction with Curtis’ contribution of the 501(c)(3), it includes tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of quality equipment that will be repurposed and rebranded for use by SC Trojans players in the coming weeks.

The SC Trojans will feature six unlimited weight class divisions: 14U, 12U, 11U, 10U, 8U, and 6U, as well as cheerleading squads. Interested players for these divisions will be evaluated by professional coaches during initial tryouts on March 17th at Mission Viejo High School, with practices commencing on July 15th and regular season play beginning in early September.
