KAWARTHAS, ON, Feb. 5, 2019 /CNW/ – Baker Tilly offices in Peterborough, Lindsay and Courtice are pleased to announce they are joining forces, along with industry veteran Sharron Wharram-Spry in Cobourg, to create a single, regionally centric audit, tax and advisory firm – Baker Tilly KDN.
Baker Tilly KDN now becomes the largest independently owned and operated firm in the region, serving the Kawarthas, Durham Region and Northumberland County. It will continue to provide the same exceptional and personalized service of its predecessor firms, while now offering clients more specialty services (such as cyber security, business consulting and workplace investigation services), expanded geographic coverage and access to more than 19 partners and 125 professionals.
Baker Tilly KDN is part of the Baker Tilly Canada Cooperative, the largest group of independent chartered accounting firms in Canada. This merger comes on the heels of the national network’s recent rebrand from Collins Barrow to Baker Tilly. Earlier this year, the Collins Barrow National Cooperative and its member firms adopted the name and visual brand of their global network, Baker Tilly International, while maintaining their fierce independence and entrepreneurial spirit.
“We are proud to build on the strong legacy of our Collins Barrow firms, while embracing the opportunities of our Baker Tilly connections and welcoming like-minded professionals with a penchant for excellence, as we adopt a new, collective identity,” says Mark Mooney, Baker Tilly KDN managing partner.
“This merger enables us to retain the best elements of our individual firms upon which clients have come to rely – trusted guidance, local expertise and personalized service – while enabling us to augment our offering and ultimately, better serve clients.”
“Strategically speaking, this merger provides us with the opportunity to leverage our depth of talent and specialty services across the entire region with unparalleled value and service excellence,” adds Ian Bergin, former managing partner of Baker Tilly Durham and now BT KDN partner.
At a global level, Baker Tilly Canada has been part of the Baker Tilly International network of independent business and accounting firms since 2009, providing clients access to an international platform. With members in 145 territories and a combined worldwide revenue of $3.6 billion USD, Baker Tilly International is a respected and thriving brand on the global financial stage.
“Service excellence has been at the heart of my entire career and joining the Baker Tilly network is a pivotal step in furthering this mandate,” says Sharron Wharram-Spry of the former Langhorne Irwin Wharram-Spry and now partner at Baker Tilly KDN.
“From the amalgamation of resources, service expansion and access to connections across the Baker Tilly network – both in Canada and abroad – we are in a formidable position to help clients adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing market.”
“The emergence of this new, unified firm in the region is the most recent example of Baker Tilly Canada’s trajectory of growth and commitment to addressing the demands of today’s global business landscape by positioning ourselves at the forefront of change,” says Grant Galbraith, Baker Tilly Canada chair.
“It’s one of the reasons our unique network model offers the best of both worlds – firms retain autonomous ownership and management, while simultaneously investing in national initiatives and representation. Clients benefit from established local insight and expertise, along with the resources and access of a national, and even global, platform.”
