BOSTON, Mass., Jan. 7, 2019
BOSTON, Mass., Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — The Colony Group, a national award-winning wealth management firm with two of its offices in Boston and Hingham, MA, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement for a strategic merger with Aurora Financial Advisors, expanding its office locations to Wellesley and Westford, MA. Upon closing, The Colony Group will have a total of 12 offices in six states with over 150 employees. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019, subject to customary closing conditions.
“This merger further strengthens our presence in the region and brings us additional talent to serve the wealth management needs of more individuals and families,” said Michael Nathanson, Chairman and CEO of The Colony Group. “It simultaneously broadens and further differentiates our comprehensive service offering to include yet another new service – family and marital dispute resolution.”
Aurora Financial Advisors, LLC, founded in 2002 by Susan Miller, CPA, CFP, CDFA, is known for its extensive experience and expertise in dispute resolution arising from divorce, estate administration, and intra-family disagreements regarding closely-held businesses and jointly-held assets. Like The Colony Group, they also offer an array of high-touch wealth management services along with tax planning and preparation for families and businesses.
“Joining together with Colony is a natural and logical progression,” said Miller. “It’s not just the similarity of our services or how we further enhance each of our capabilities that’s attractive, but our shared commitment to deliver on our promises to our clients.”
“We are delighted to see the two firms come together. Colony has a strong track record of growth since joining Focus in 2011. The firm has set a great example in facilitating merger transitions with expanded geographic presence and client base,” said Rajini Kodialam, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Focus Financial Partners, of which Colony is a partner.
The Colony Group, which recently received several distinguished financial industry awards and recognitions, including the Trailblazer IMPACT Award™ and spots on Barron’s Top 40 RIA List and InvestmentNews’ Women to Watch List, serves a diverse clientele that includes successful executives and entrepreneurs, professionals, athletes, institutions, businesses and non-profit organizations.
Another innovative initiative is Colony’s Her Wealth, whose mission is to provide women with the financial confidence and resources they need to manage their wealth. Miller, an expert in financial dispute resolution and an advocate for alternative dispute resolution for marital, family and business disputes, will join Her Wealth as a dynamic spokesperson and leader.
