DTN Acquires Wilkens Weather Technologies from Rockwell Collins

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — DTN, the trusted independent provider of information and actionable insights in agriculture, weather, refined fuels and trading, announced today that it has acquired Wilkens Weather Technologies, a Houston-based weather company, from Rockwell Collins, Inc. (NYSE: COL). Wilkens Weather Technologies provides weather forecasting services to customers in the offshore/maritime industry, particularly oil and gas. Terms of the transaction were not released.

Service offerings include daily site-specific forecasts, tropical advisories, severe weather alerts, web/mobile tools and 24/7 customer support to ensure safety and optimize efficiency of offshore activities. Severe weather, including tropical storms, can cause significant disruption and financial consequences to oil and gas producers and the entire supply chain, and Wilkens’ services help mitigate these impacts through timely and accurate optimized planning decisions.
