M/A-Com Offers Product to Reduce Data Transmission Cost

Zacks

M/A-Com Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. MTSI, a primary supplier of semiconductor products, recently introduced the industry’s first highly advanced modulator driver, the MAOM-006428. This device uses upgraded technology enabling the transmission of 400 Gbps and more data on a single wavelength using coherent technology.

The new offering from M/A-Com, which enhances data transfer on a single wavelength, will aid operators to boost capacity and reduce overall cost-per-bit of transmission. Currently, metro networks are unable to achieve higher order modulation formats such as 32 and 64 QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) as they have limited reach attributable to "signal-to-noise" requirements. This will help in solid market traction of M/A-Com 's offerings as it aids long haul network operators to use higher baud rates of up to 64G necessary to achieve data rates as high as 400G on a single wavelength.

The MAOM-006428 modulator driver consists of surface mount inputs and G3PO outputs to assist the next generation high bandwidth modulator, currently being regulated by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF). This device is highly integrated to support high order modulation formats using minimal power.

M/A-Com’s MAOM-006428 modulator driver sets the company apart from its peers. This new product is cost efficient and reduces power consumption, making it apt for customers who install it.

Headquartered in Lowell, MA, M/A-Com provides analog semiconductor solutions for use in wireless and wireline applications across the Radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeterwave spectrum. The company's primary markets are community antenna television (CATV), cellular backhaul, cellular infrastructure and fiber optic applications, Aerospace and Defense (A&D) and Multi-market, which include automotive, industrial, medical, mobile and scientific applications. M/A-Com has its offices across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

M/A-Com carries a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell). Some better-ranked stocks in the industry include MaxLinear, Inc. MXL, Semtech Corporation SMTC and Inphi Corporation IPHI. MaxLinear and Semtech sport a Zacks Rank #1(Strong Buy), whereas Inphi carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
