Exar Corp. EXAR recently announced that its newly launched High Definition Composite Video Interface (“HDCVI”) chipset will help in delivering HD videos on existing coaxial cable infrastructure for distances as far as 500 meters.
On Jan 7, 2015, video surveillance solution provider Dahua Technology signed a strategic agreement with Exar to license HDCVI technology. Per this agreement, Exar is certified to design, manufacture and sell high-definition analog video solutions utilizing HDCVI technology.
Dahua is the inventor and patent owner of HDCVI technology. This Chinese company is a leading provider of security and surveillance services.
Exar and Dahua are both members of the HDcctv Alliance, which sets standards for HDCVI. Exar’s HDCVI products are fully compliant with the HDCVI 2.0 standard, ensuring performance specifications and interoperability with other HDCVI products.
The HDCVI chipset will enable video surveillance equipment design engineers to opt for cost-effective HD video components, which not only abide by global open standards, but can also be sourced from multiple suppliers.
The HD video surveillance industry is currently growing at a rapid pace. With the launch of this advanced HDCVI solution, video surveillance professionals will have access to HD video in an analog format appropriate for broadcast over existing coaxial cable infrastructure. The upgrade of analog cameras and video recorders to HDCVI at site will enable customers to enjoy HD video at minimal cost.
