Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. DNKN finally answers burrito lovers’ prayers with the new Southwest twist GranDDe Burrito. The 10-ounce breakfast burrito will be available throughout the day at Dunkin' Donuts restaurants nationwide, but for a limited period from Feb 29. The burrito comprises a tortilla filled with a spicy omelet with jalapenos and pepper jack cheese with habanero.
Breakfast is the most popular day-part of the growing quick service restaurants and so GranDDe Burrito will be welcomed by both burrito lovers and breakfast enthusiasts.
Additionally, Dunkin' Donuts is bringing back Baskin-Robbins-inspired coffee-flavored ice-creams in addition to old favorites like Butter Pecan and Cookie Dough and a new Pistachio flavor.
The company also announced the launch of innovative donut items like Strawberry Shortcake Croissant Donut and brought back Cheesecake Squares like OREO Cheesecake Square and Raspberry Cheesecake Square. With these additions, the company expects to see increased store traffic.
Dunkin' Brands generates a chunk of revenues from the breakfast segment, which is gradually becoming more competitive. Bigger companies like Yum! Brands, Inc.’s YUM Taco Bell and McDonald's Corp. MCD are gaining market traction with their breakfast platter, which is denting Dunkin' Brands’ top line.
McDonald's launched an All Day Breakfast program last year which became highly popular. Dunkin’ expects to gain similar popularity with GranDDe Burrito.
The three new items on its menu should increase same store sales while offering the company an edge in the highly competitive market.
