JetBlue Airways Corp. JBLU has decided to start non-stop daily flight service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
Under the new extension, JetBlue will flag off new flights starting May 5, 2016. The company has decided to fly the Embraer 190 aircraft on both the routes. The flights will provide more leg space, along with free unlimited snacks and soft drinks. Moreover, passengers travelling to Latin America and the Caribbean will be offered free first-run Hollywood movies on board.
An introductory fare of $59 for one-way travel between Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood to Aguadilla is available. Customers can book their seats at jetblue.com starting today.
In addition, JetBlue will step up flight frequencies from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, South Florida and from Logan International Airport (BOS) in Boston — the busiest hubs for JetBlue.
Meanwhile, FLL has turned into an important hub for JetBlue’s South American destinations. The carrier operates nearly 145 flights on a daily basis to the important cities of Caribbean and Latin America.
Coming to traffic data, JetBlue recently revealed encouraging numbers for the month of November on the back of increased travel demand. Traffic – measured in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) – came in at 3.4 million, up 14.2% year over year.
Hence, we believe that increased flight frequencies coupled with low-cost tickets will not only enhance travel options for Washington but will also boost revenues for JetBlue.
