Wyndham Worldwide Corporation’s WYN Baymont Inn & Suites announced the opening of its 400th property. The Baymont Inn & Suites Lazaro Cardenas marks the brand’s debut in Mexico.
The 118-room hotel, owned by local Mexican firm Desarrollo Hotelero LC, is located in one of Mexico's major west coast port cities, Lazaro Cardenas. It joins more than 50 hotels under the brand opened over the past year. The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool, a round-the-clock fitness center and free transportation to and from the airport. The onsite restaurant has a bar and serves Mexican as well as international cuisine. The hotel also has four well equipped, modern conference rooms which can accommodate up to 110 guests, and event planning services.
The hotel is close to the city's business district and easily accessible from the airport. The hotel is also located near the Malecon de la Cultura y Las Artes – the entertainment hub and boardwalk – and Parque Jesus Romero Flores, an outdoor recreation area.
The city of Lazaro Cardenas, located to the south of Michoacan, is a favorite of both the business as well as the leisure traveler. The thriving steel industry along with one of Mexico's most important port for auto imports and exports on the west coast adds to the city’s charm. It also has pristine beaches, perfect for fishing. Notably, Mexico consistently ranks as one of the most popular destinations for the U.S. outbound traveler and has witnessed a surge in the numbers in the recent past.
Baymont Inn & Suites brand, acquired by Wyndham in 2006, has grown its footprint rapidly across the U.S. and Canada. The mid-scale brand has been gaining popularity among guests and the company plans to tap on the demand with nearly 30 hotels under the brand to become operational in 2016.
