Google Play Music Launches Family Plan at $14.99/Month

When streaming services — especially music — are in question, family plans are quite popular for the obvious reason, i.e., economy.

No wonder, Spotify's family plans and Apple AAPL Music's family options enjoy such demand!

Family plan was the one great feature missing from Alphabet’s GOOGL Google Play Music — but not anymore.

Google has finally launched a family plan with a price tag of $14.99 a month, which will include unlimited music streaming for up to six accounts.

Users will be able to access the 35 million audio tracks that Google offers ad-free for paying Google Play Music subscribers through the Android and iOS apps as well as the Play Music website.

At the same time, Google will keep family members’ playlists and favorites separate.

In the U.S., as part of the Play Music Family Plan, Google is also including YouTube Red which allows ad-free music videos to be watched both online and offline.

The new Play Music Family Plan is currently available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, France and Germany. Google plans to expand it to other countries soon.

Going Ahead

Spotify’s family plan costs $14.99 a month for two family members and lets you add additional users for $5.

So Apple Music and Google Play Music seem to be the most attractive choices for those with big families and not-so-deep pockets.

Google currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Investors can consider stocks of Stamps.com Inc. STMP and Travelport Worldwide Limited TVPT. While Stamps.com sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), Amazon carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
