SAP Upgrades EIM Portfolio to Aid Digital Transition

Zacks

Enterprise application software provider SAP SE SAP recently upgraded its family of innovative enterprise information management (“EIM”) solutions to help clients accomplish their vision of digital transformation. The EIM solutions have been specifically engineered to leverage the increasing usage of Big Data and Internet of Things (“IoT”) for simplifying business operations.

EIM is an integral component of cloud analytics market that includes a range of other applications such as cloud BI tools, hosted data warehousing, complex event processing, Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) and analytics solutions.

Product Details

The company’s latest offerings include 1.3 version of SAP Agile Data Preparation, the 4.2 SP6 version of SAP Data Services and the 8.0 version of the SAP Master Data Governance application. These offerings cater to three critical business areas, namely, customer experience, supplier collaboration and employee engagement, which are the open secrets of a successful enterprise.

SAP Agile Data Preparation’s 1.3 version hosts a new facility to incorporate data aggregation and filtering capabilities for quicker combination of multiple or large data sets as well as more proficient analysis. The 4.2 SP6 version of SAP Data Services software boasts a greater technical prowess to support complex applications including Hadoop, NoSQL, JSON and spatial data.

Moreover, SAP has collaborated with Google, subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. GOOG, for improving the capability of cloud-based Big Data analytics web service Google BigQuery by adding a feature called “bidirectional extract-transform-load (ETL)” to manage super-complex data. This, in turn, will help companies administer better policy and data management techniques to secure data integrity of important business-related decisions. In this regard, SAP Information Steward software’s 4.2 SP6 version has been particularly created to deal with issues related to information policy management for improving creation, maintenance and governance of policies.

Finally, the 8.0 version of the SAP Master Data Governance can integrate the data quality services of SAP HANA platform to create a consolidated master data sheet from different SAP and non-SAP sources.

Our Take

Market research reports suggest that Global Cloud Analytics Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 26.29% during 2014–2019. Hence, SAP remains primarily focused on expanding its cloud business to become one of the leading players in this category. The company has been witnessing stellar cloud booking performance over the past few quarters, which shot up 102% in the third quarter of 2015. Encouragingly, SAP is one of the major players in the market, apart from other competitors like Oracle Corporation ORCL and Microsoft Corporation MSFT.

Recent market trends indicate that cloud-based analytics solutions are taking precedence over on-premise Business Intelligence solutions, solely driven by their technical superiority and customer-centric outcome. As a result, a wide range of industries is leveraging the advantage of Big Data cloud analytics market to outshine their peers. We believe that SAP’s effort toward providing state-of-the art EIM offerings will likely witness positive market response, as enterprises continue to invent newer business models and switch to digital business processes.
