Leading provider of facility solutions ABM Industries Inc ABM recently inked a contract with the U.S. General Services Administration (“GSA”), under which it will initiate a second phase of widespread energy and facility upgrades to federal buildings all over Southern California.

The Bundled Energy Solutions program will include the 300 North Los Angeles (“NLA”) Building; Edward R. Roybal Federal Building in Los Angeles; the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building in Long Beach; the U.S. Social Security Building in Huntington Park; and the U.S. Courthouse and Ronald Reagan Federal Building in Santa Ana.

Overall, ABM's innovative, long-term financing solution promises to unlock energy and operating cost savings of a minimum of $48.4 million over the next 20 years. The program will cut the buildings' energy use by a whopping 38%.

Sometime back, ABM finished the first phase of the multi-million dollar contract for GSA, which focused on retrofitting the central plant's HVAC system and upgrading building automation controls to control energy usage. This upgrade will likely lessen energy consumption by 25%. The central plant is shared by the 300 NLA Building and the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building.

ABM designed the Bundled Energy Solutions program as an economic solution to cater to the technical facility needs and sustainability goals of clients. ABM's objective is to streamline the client's operating budget, so that the savings generated can be reallocated to fund mission critical facility requirements.

This solution, which has been customized for the GSA, includes 54 energy conservation measures across the buildings. In this new environment of shrinking tax bases and limited resources, clients are increasingly relying on programs like ABM’s Bundled Energy Solutions for new measures to meet their critical infrastructure upgrade needs.

Headquartered in San Francisco, CA, ABM provides engineering, janitorial, parking, and security services to commercial, industrial, institutional, and retail facilities.
