Tata Motors’ Wholesales Surge 21% in September, 4% YTD

Tata Motors Limited’s TTM shares gained 7.5% on Oct 15, after the automaker reported that its global wholesales, inclusive of the Jaguar Land Rover, increased 21% year over year to 97,102 vehicles in Sep 2015. Cumulative global wholesales for Apr through Sep 2015 were 478,004 vehicles, up 4% from the year-ago figure.

Global wholesales of all Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles and the Tata Daewoo range were 33,768 vehicles in Sep 2015, 3% lower than the figure recorded in Sep 2014. Moreover, cumulative commercial vehicle sales from April through September were down 2% year over year, to 179,727 vehicles.

Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in the month of September surged 40% to 63,334 units, while cumulative sales from April through September improved 7.4 to 298,277 units. Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle wholesales went down 1% to 12,260 units in Sep 2015. Cumulative wholesales for the April–September period increased 18% to 67,080 units.

Jaguar Land Rover recorded global sales of 51,074 vehicles in Sep 2015. Cumulative wholesales for the April–September period stood at 231,197 vehicles. Jaguar wholesales were 8,211 vehicles in September and 42,889 units for April–September. Land Rover sales totaled 42,863 vehicles for last month and 188,308 units for April through September.
