Starwood’s Expansion On Track, Takes Sheraton to Chuzhou

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. HOT announced the opening of a hotel in Chuzhou, a city in Anhui Province, China under its brand Sheraton. This marks the brand’s entry in Chuzhou.

Owned by Chuzhou Alliance Hotel Management Co., Ltd., the hotel features 348 contemporary rooms and suites, featuring all of the brand’s signature amenities, a fitness center, an indoor heated pool and spa and a state-of-the-art conference space spread over an area of 17,000 square feet.

Chuzhou is located in eastern Anhui Province near Nanjing, between Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers. Chuzhou’s Fenyang is one of the four provincial level cultural ancient cities in Anhui and is famous for being the hometown of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty. The hotel is located close to Chuzhou’s new Central Business District, a retail mall, shops, a theater, and historical locations. It is one and half hour’s drive from Nanjing Lukou International Airport. All these features make it suitable for business and leisure travelers.

China continues to be a key market for Sheraton. Sheraton Chuzhou Hotel is the brand’s 70th hotel in China and takes the total count to more than 110 hotels in the Asia Pacific region. Within Asia, China promises lucrative growth opportunities as visits are expected to increase substantially in the near term. In fact, the hotelier is striving to enhance its presence in the emerging markets to cash in on the increasing demand for hotels.

Other hoteliers like Hyatt Hotels Corporation H, Marriott International, Inc. MAR and Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. HLT are also busy opening hotels in the emerging markets.
