(CNP) is a Houston, TX-based energy delivery company that provides electric transmission & distribution, natural gas distribution and competitive natural gas sales and services operations. The company serves over 5 million metered customers primarily in Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.

CenterPoint has seen a flat track record when it comes to current quarter estimate revisions, as there has been no revision on either side over the past few weeks.

Coming to the earnings surprise, CenterPoint Energy has surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate in three of the last four quarters, resulting in a positive average surprise of 8.08%.

Earnings: CenterPoint lagged earnings estimate by just a cent. Our consensus called for second quarter EPS of 20 cents, and the company reported adjusted earnings of 19 cents per share.

Revenues: Revenues of $1,532 million also missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1,802 million.

Key Stats: The company registered a 2.2% year over year increase in electric transmission and distribution customer count in the reported quarter to 2.3 million.
