Lippes Merges With Albany Law Firm

NYSCOPBA, Inc. announces that the union will retain Lippes for legal and government affairs services

ALBANY, N.Y., Aug. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Buffalo-based Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP announced today that the firm has merged with Albany-based law Sheehan Greene Golderman and Jacques LLP. The Sheehan firm represented the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Inc. (NYSCOPBA) among other clients. NYSCOPBA, Inc. president Michael B. Powers announced that the union is retaining the Lippes law firm in a legal and government relations capacity.

Formed in 1998, the New York State Corrections Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Inc. a represents approximately 26,000 New York State employees and retirees.

Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP employs approximately 80 people in the firm’s Buffalo office. The Albany office will be comprised of approximately 20 employees bringing the total workforce to almost 100.

Sheehan Greene Golderman and Jacques LLP provided NYSCOPBA, Inc. and other clients various services, including collective negotiations, contract arbitrations, disciplinary arbitrations, employment-related litigation in both federal and State court, representation before the Public Employment Relations Board (“PERB”) and representation before the New York State Legislature and the Governor’s Office.
