Amazon.com Inc.’s AMZN film production division, Amazon Studios, announced that the second season of its original kids’ series — Annedroids — is now available for Amazon Prime members through Prime Instant Video in the U.S. and the U.K.

Annedroids is a live-action adventure series featuring a young female scientist, Anne, and her friends. This series promotes learning through play, creativity and imagination instead of rote learning. With an 11-year old girl as the narrator, the series focuses on science, technology, engineering and math. In the second season, Anne and her friends return to the junkyard and face new problems including intruders, broken pigeons and escaped dinosaurs. J.J. Johnson is the creator and the executive producer of this series.

Prime members can now view the first and second season of Annedroids on Amazon Instant Video apps for TVs, other connected and mobile devices for free. According to the company, the first season was a major hit and received the Grand Prize for Best Production in all categories at the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Amazon Instant Video is a digital video streaming and download service that lets users rent, buy or subscribe to a range of video content. Amazon is striving to add more content to spur digital media sales and attract new viewers. The company is focusing on a wide range of programs, including comedy, drama, docu-series and kids offerings, to expand its content line-up and make the Prime Instant video service more attractive.

Additionally, Amazon Studio has eight original series lined up to be debuted this year and early next. These include comedy, drama and docu-series pilots and a few kids’ series such as Wishenpoof!, Just Add Magic, and The Stinky & Dirty Show.

The rising popularity of tablets, smartphones and connected TVs has increased online-video viewing and continues to attract consumers as well as leading technology companies like Google. Therefore, Amazon is leaving no stone unturned to boost its digital media sales and attract new viewers by adding kids’ series to its content line-up and making Prime Instant video service more attractive.
