Keurig Green Mountain Inc.GMCR recently unveiled its newest line of coffee – the Green Mountain Coffee Organic – slated to hit retail outlets this July. However, the new line of organic coffee is already available for sale on the official website of the company.
Green Mountain Coffee Organic K-Cup pods can be brewed in the Keurig Hot Brewing systems and come in four varieties — Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Peru Cajamarca, Sumatra Aceh and Founder’s Blend.
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe is a light roast coffee with floral aroma and hints of spices, citrus and ginger. Peru Cajamarca, sourced from Peru, is medium roasted coffee that tastes of caramel and green apple. Sumatra Aceh is a dark roast, full-bodied coffee, sourced from Sumatra, with hints of dark chocolate and fresh fig. Founder’s Blend is made of medium roasted coffee grown in Vermont with taste of floral citrus, crisp apples and sweet caramel.
The Green Mountain Coffee Organic K-Cup pods come in 10- and 16-count boxes priced at $9.49 and $11.49, respectively. Amid growing demand for organic food products which do not use any artificial flavors or preservatives, the company’s decision to cater to the changing demand is expected to bring favorable results.
Along with the release of its coffee Keurig also unveiled a new look with a new branding and a refreshed logo and packaging.
The specialty coffee retailer is geared to popularize the single-cup brewing system in the U.S. The company has also signed agreements to rope in popular brands like Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. DNKN, Starbucks Corp. SBUX and The Kraft Foods Group Inc. KRFT into its portion pack systems.
However, the Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) stock has been in troubled waters for some time now. Keurig Green Mountain’s much-hyped Keurig 2.0 brewer launched in Sep 2014 failed to impress consumers, especially because of the high price tag and confusion among users regarding the usage of the brewer.
