Premium technology company FLIR Systems, Inc. FLIR took mobile technology one step ahead by commercially launching the next-generation ‘FLIR ONE’ thermal imager. The new product would help convert modern smartphone devices into a potent thermal imager that can withstand heat and appropriately measure temperature disparities as low as one-tenth of a degree. The company also declared its intention to launch an updated version of Android software development kit (“SDK”) and a new variation of iOS SDK that would enable developers to create innovative applications for mobile devices on iOS or Android platforms.
The new FLIR ONE technology is actually a host of variable applications which can identify energy inefficiencies, ensure enjoyable and safe exploration, and observe water leaks in a home. FLIR ONE utilizes a lightning connector for iOS gadgets and a micro-USB connector for Android devices. Powered by a specialized internal battery, the imager comprises a new-generation Lepton thermal camera core. It also supports two of the company’s formal FLIR ONE products, "FLIR Approved Application" and "FLIR Certified Developer". The product is now available in the market for a maximum retail price of $249.99. While the currently available versions are compatible with iOS devices, the ones supporting Android devices would be available from Jul 2015 onward.
FLIR Systems designs, produces and markets non-imitable sensor systems that support better awareness and perception on a whole. These systems are used in a wide variety of security applications, thermal imaging as well as situational awareness domains like airborne & ground-based surveillance, drug interdiction and environmental monitoring.
