What Are Investors Saying About the Obamacare Ruling?

ZacksThis morning the Supreme Court ruled in favor of tax subsidies under the Affordable Care Act in King v. Burwell with a 6-3 decision. This decision keeps the current subsidies in place within ACA, or otherwise known as Obamacare, and there won’t be any major changes in the immediate future.

This decision has made the hashtag, #SCOTUS, trend on twitter due to the impact ACA has on many Americans and businesses. This decision could have a potential long term impact on health insurance companies too, and especially ones like Humana (HUM), United Healthcare (UNH), Aetna (AET), Centene Corporation (CNC), and more.

Obviously many people who are talking about the Supreme Court’s ruling has mostly been about politics with clear ideological divisions over the decision. However, investors have taken note on the SCOTUS ruling and how it has benefited many health insurers today.

When this article was written many major health insurance companies were trading higher following the news. Will health insurers benefit from ACA in the long run? What are your thoughts about today’s ruling and its impact on businesses?
