Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.’s HOT The Westin Chicago River North recently underwent extensive renovation. The hotel, owned by Host Hotels & Resorts and operated by Starwood underwent a three-month renovation, which was completed in March. The overhaul was part of the Westin brand’s efforts to continuously redesign its global portfolio.
The renovation process includes large-scale enhancements to the hotel's guestrooms and the introduction of an Executive Club Lounge and two restaurants. As part of the redesign, the hotel currently has a total of 19 meeting rooms and over 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting space with the addition of the Riverfront room. All meeting rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Further, the makeover includes the introduction of the Treadmill Desk – a sit-stand-walk workstation.
The Westin Chicago River North is a stone’s throw away from the upscale boutiques along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, Chicago Theater, the Civic Opera House and a variety of world-class restaurants, night clubs and bars. The hotel also offers convenient access to many tourist attractions including the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute of Chicago and Wrigley Field – home of the Chicago Cubs.
With the recent increase in occupancy rates due to the gradual economic recovery, hoteliers like Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. HLT and Marriott International, Inc. MAR are investing heavily to improve their services and improve guest experience, thereby increasing the customer base.
Further, hotels are striving to develop a multi-channel approach with the help of technology to make their services more consumer-friendly. Additionally, hoteliers are engaging in extensive renovations to stay ahead of the ever-changing needs and demands of consumers.
