Texas Instruments (TXN) Launches Wideband RF Synthesizer

Zacks

Texas Instruments TXN or TI recently launched LMX2571, the industry’s most power efficient wideband radio frequency (RF) synthesizer. The LMX2571 RF synthesizer is available for purchase in a 6 mmX 6 mm quad flat no-leads (QNF) package at $5.50 in 1,000-unit quantities.

The LMX2571 incorporates an ultra-low-noise PLLatinum fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) with a multicore voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The integration enables low phase noise. The LMX2571 improves radio sensitivity and dynamic range for a variety of applications including power-efficient wireless communication, handheld oscilloscopes and signal analyzers.

It also comprises an integrated frequency modulator, which allows the user to adjust the carrier to generate analog frequency modulation (FM) or frequency-shift-keying (FSK). The feature benefits portable wireless applications such as land mobile radios, software-defined radios and wireless microphones. The LMX2571 also comes with an integrated feature to remove integer boundary spurs (IBS), which helps designers to reduce spurious emissions and capitalize on the use of radio channels in their wireless systems.

The design process for the LMX2571 is simplified by using TI's WEBENCH Clock Architect online design tool. WEBENCH Clock Architect offers a quick and easy clock tree solution customized as per the system necessities.

The launch will enhance Texas Instruments’ differentiated product pipeline and is expected to improve market share for TI, thereby boosting revenues. However, Texas Instruments operates in an intensely competitive industry and companies such as Analog Devices ADI can pose stiff competition.

Texas Instruments currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). Better-ranked stocks in the industry are Linear Technology Corporation LLTC and NXP Semiconductors NV NXPI, both carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
