NCR Solution Installed in 1st Dunkin’ Donuts Unit in Brazil

Zacks

NCR Corporation NCR recently announced that Dunkin’ Donuts – part of Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. DNKN – has incorporated its restaurant technology and cloud solutions in the first franchised outlet in Brazil. Dunkin’ Donuts intends to open 65 restaurants using NCR solutions in the country across the Federal District and Goias in the coming years.

The NCR cloud-based solutions will help the restaurant chain operator to easily manage daily transactions and gain insight into store performance. The leading provider of consumer transaction technologies revealed that Dunkin’ Donuts is currently using its Aloha point-of-sale (POS) software and NCR Real-Time cloud-based mobile app.

NCR’s Aloha POS will facilitate quick processing of orders and payments, thereby increasing Dunkin’ Donuts’ speed of service and operating efficiency. NCR’s Real-Time mobile app offers easy access to multiple NCR solutions in one place. This SaaS-based mobile application helps restaurant operators solve everyday issues and offers better visibility into operational performance.

This application sends notifications and alerts to designated smartphones. The data thus collected provides a quick review of operational information, such as net sales by hour, employee performance and overtime alerts. This is an effective restaurant management solution which should find other takers over the long run.

Additionally, NCR’s solutions are helping Dunkin’ Donuts manage stocks, thereby improving the performance at the Brazilian outlets.

The demand for NCR’s POS solution is increasing among retailers and restaurant owners as it automates bill payment and accounting. As a result, managers get ample time for customer interaction, leading to increased productivity.

Right from increasing operational efficiency of the restaurants to managing food retail outlets, NCR has been instrumental in offering value added solutions. The company strengthened its position in the POS market through the acquisition of Radiant Systems in Aug 2011.

We believe that NCR’s position in the self-service kiosk space is encouraging given the tremendous growth prospects. Continued product launches, growing popularity of its self-service offerings and synergies from acquisitions are the other catalysts.

However, similar offerings from the likes of Diebold Corp. DBD and International Business Machines Corp. IBM could create some pressure. Furthermore, the company’s soft guidance for the second quarter of 2015, to account for lower revenue growth across its business segments and unfavorable exchange rates, keeps us skeptical about its near-term performance.

Currently, NCR has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).
