Raytheon Company RTN has launched a maritime navigation systems’ subsidiary − Raytheon Anschuetz USA LLC − in San Diego, CA. The new unit is part of Raytheon Anschutz GmbH in Germany.
The new unit will be based at the Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (“IDS”) division. The new unit will offer technical advice and lifecycle support services to shipping firms, shipyards and military agencies such as the Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, Navy, and Army. The services will be extended toward Raytheon Anschutz nautical equipment, including radars, autopilots, gyrocompasses and electronic sea charts. The subsidiary will also provide consulting services pertaining to International Maritime Organization requirements and recommendations.
Deutschland-based Raytheon Anschütz returned to the U.S. navigation systems market in early 2012. With the latest move, Raytheon Anschütz will extend its reach to U.S.-based customers, with greater flexibility, new services and spares’ support.
Raytheon’s IDS segment mainly provides air and missile defense, large land- and sea-based radars and systems for managing command, control, communications, computers and intelligence or C4I. It also makes air traffic management systems, sonars, torpedoes and electronic systems for ships. Hence, with the latest unit launch, the company is expected to further broaden its maritime navigation systems across the country. The Raytheon Anschütz services network covers U.S. coastlines and more than 50 service points.
Like the U.S. and its allies, other nations across the globe are also utilizing advanced technology to fortify their defense systems. Raytheon has been heavily investing in technological upgrades as well as expanding its technological presence.
Raytheon Company currently carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). Some other well-placed stocks in the same space are TransDigm Group Incorporated TDG and Orbital ATK, Inc. OA, sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), and Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. SPR, carrying the same Zacks Rank as Raytheon.
