PPG Industries Inc.’s PPG packaging coatings business declared that it will display its new generation spray coatings − Innovel HPS − for the interior of beverage cans at Cannex & Fillex Asia Pacific in Guangzhou, China, from Jun 1–4. PPG Industries will also showcase the entire Innovel line of coatings, which is specially designed to cater to the changing requirements for aluminum and steel beverage cans and ends.

The new Innovel HPS spray is suitable for a wide range of filling products as it features innovative technology offering flavor-neutral properties, effective pasteurization and retort capabilities. Additionally, this new spray has been approved by all major brands. It is available commercially and globally, and adheres to all weight specifications.

PPG Industries will also showcase advanced Innovel HPE polyester coatings suitable for the interior and exterior of beverage Easy-Open-Ends. These coatings offer a high-performance solution for coil coaters, can-makers and brand owners. The Innovel HPE polyester coatings abide by the latest North American and European regulations with its special Bisphenol A non-intent (BPA-NI) composition. The new range is inclusive of styrene-free and PVC-free coatings.

According to Mike Mei, general manager, packaging coatings, Asia Pacific, the Innovel HPE coatings possess excellent stamping properties and can resist deep drawing processes. This makes them suitable for all industry end profiles. Moreover, this spray coating features the same properties as that of the Innovel HPS spray, being flavor-neutral and apt for pasteurization and light retort processes. The range also features coatings for sheet application.

Additionally, PPG Industries will exhibit the new W1 series of environment-friendly waterborne coatings. These help reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for beverage ends suitable for carbonated soft drinks and beers. Thus, PPG Industries’ range of coatings highlights and includes all packaging uses, ranging from the food, cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceutical markets, to the paint and chemical industries.

PPG Industries currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Better-ranked companies in the diversified chemical space include Celanese Corporation CE, LyondellBasell Industries N.V. LYB and Trecora Resources TREC, all sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
