Trina Solar to Ship 9.9 MW Modules to a Panama Solar Farm

Zacks

China-based photovoltaic ("PV") module producer Trina Solar Limited TSL was selected by Solarcentury, a project developer and engineering, procurement and construction solutions provider, to supply around 33,000 of its PC14 modules for a 9.9 megawatt (“MW”) solar farm project in Cocle province, central Panama.

The PC14 modules will be utilized by Solarcentury to construct a 9.9 MW solar farm “Divisa Solar” for ECOSolar, a Latin American solar investment company. Divisa Solar will be one of the largest solar farms in Panama connected to the grid.

Trina Solar’s PC14 modules were selected for this project due to its reliability and capability to perform even in challenging environmental conditions. This solar farm will produce enough electricity to power nearly 3,000 homes and lower 4,850 tons of carbon emission per year.

With increasing awareness across the globe about the harm done by coal-fired generation, the beneficent rays of the sun are increasingly being tapped to produce green energy. The high quality solar modules developed by Trina Solar through consistent research and development enable it to win contracts from all over the world.

Recently, the company delivered 6.9 MW of Trinasmart photovoltaic modules to UK-based Anesco Ltd., an energy efficiency solutions company (read: Trina Solar (TSL) Supplies 6.9MW of PV Modules to Anesco).

Apart from Trina Solar, other Chinese solar companies like JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. JASO, Yingli Green Energy Holding YGE and JinkoSolar Holding Co. JKS among others are winning contracts from international customers at regular intervals. These companies are also likely to benefit from the Chinese government’s goal of adding 17.8 gigawatts (“GW”) of solar capacity in 2015, which is about 18.7% higher than the previous 15 GW proposal announced in February.

Trina Solar currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).
