Honeywell Global Tracking, an integral part of Honeywell International Inc HON, recently announced that it has passed the final acceptance test of its Global Tracking solution by the European Space Agency (ESA).
ESA will be using Honeywell's tracking solution for significantly reducing the response time of its Galileo geo-positioning satellite system – a search and rescue program covering Europe. Honeywell aims to deliver a high-precision positioning system which is compatible with the globally accepted Cospas-Sarsat standard and is likely to reduce response times for European emergency procedures.
The international Cospas-Sarsat program is a satellite-based search and rescue distress alert detection and information distribution system. This new satellite tracking technology by Honeywell helps to detect faint alerts sent by emergency beacons using noise reduction and advanced signal processing, thereby helping mission centres take a prompt and necessary action.
Honeywell is collaborating with the Aerospace & Defense division of Capgemini – the prime contractor for the Galileo search and rescue program. This search and rescue solution will lead to faster recovery missions and improved international search and rescue operations.
Honeywell is a global diversified technology and manufacturing company with a wide range of aerospace products and services, control, sensing and security technologies for buildings, homes and industry, turbochargers, automotive products, specialty chemicals, electronic and advanced materials, process technology for refining and petrochemicals, and energy efficient products and solutions for homes, business and transportation.
Honeywell currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other stocks that look promising and are worth a look now include Carlisle Companies Incorporated CSL, Compass Diversified Holdings CODI and Icahn Enterprises, L.P. IEP, each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
