SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — ASU+GSV Summit – As millions of college seniors around the globe prepare for graduation next month, AfterCollege today announced at the ASU+GSV Summit 2015 that it has acquired competitor Collegefeed – to become the largest career hub that helps college students and new grads get hired fast.

AfterCollege research shows that more than 80 percent of college seniors didn’t have a job lined up prior to graduation last year, despite 73 percent actively looking for one. Over the past 12 months, the job market has seen a marked improvement in early career opportunities. In fact, a recent Michigan State University study showed employers intend to hire recent college graduates at a rate unseen since the tech boom of the late 90s. And yet, attracting those candidates with the most in-demand skill-set remains a major pain-point for companies.

Now, with AfterCollege’s nearly 1.5 million student profiles and Collegefeed’s cutting-edge career search and candidate feed tools, the acquisition will provide first-time jobseekers the most efficient solution for finding their dream jobs, while giving employers a powerful new way to stand out from the competition.

“Unless you’re Apple or Facebook, it’s very hard to create brand awareness with millennial jobseekers – yet without employees with the latest skillsets to be competitive, half of new companies don’t survive their fourth year,” said Roberto Angulo, CEO and co-founder of AfterCollege. “With the current high-demand market, we’re increasingly focused on supporting not just our core group of jobseekers, but also startups, mid-size and huge employers everywhere who are searching for them.”

“Collegefeed has created very compelling tools for employers to discover top young talent and build out their talent network,” said SanDisk’s Director of Talent Acquisition, Camille Gatenby. “Those tools, layered on top of AfterCollege’s student pipeline, provides an incredibly strong platform for us to recruit college students and recent graduates that we otherwise would have a difficult time reaching.”

Created by Google’s former product marketing chief, Sanjeev Agrawal, and co-founder Aman Khanna, Collegefeed is a social network with one goal – to help every college student and new grad get hired. Since its inception in 2013, Collegefeed’s platform has helped tens of thousands of jobseekers from thousands of schools connect with the perfect employers. From Stanford to Carnegie Mellon, dozens of universities around the country have rolled out the platform campus-wide and 1,000+ companies have partnered with Collegefeed to recruit the hottest millennial talent.

“Contrary to all the stigma, we believe that millennials might actually be the best generation of workers we’ve ever seen,” said Sanjeev Agrawal, CEO and co-founder of Collegefeed. “This acquisition provides our hardworking, resourceful and inspirational community of new graduates an even greater opportunity to be discovered by the companies recruiting quality candidates, just like them.”

Through the acquisition, Collegefeed student profiles will be folded into the AfterCollege talent network where students will instantly become discoverable by hundreds more employers. Mr. Agrawal will join AfterCollege’s advisory board, while Collegefeed’s senior product team members will join AfterCollege to help guide the integration process and lead future product development.

Upcoming launches already underway include a new Employer Feeds product coming in May, which sends curated feeds of vetted candidates right to the employer’s inbox and One-Click-Connect, a new feature launching in June that allows employers to connect directly with interesting students during on-campus career fairs and events.

“With these and its existing portfolio of employer branding tools that make it easy to connect with students both physically and virtually, AfterCollege employers will enjoy an even broader student pipeline and on-campus reach – from employer brand pages on AfterCollege.com to mobile optimized on-campus recruiting,” added Tim Weaver, SVP Product and Business Operations for AfterCollege.

AfterCollege has long led the market for entry-level hiring, growing to over half a million visitors each month since 1999. Today, it represents over 18,000 faculty, student group and academic contacts from 2,000 universities, plus more than 400,000 jobs and internships from 25,000 employers. Its Explore feature successfully matches students and recent graduates to jobs based on factors like school, major, graduation date and personal preferences.

If you’d like to hear more about AfterCollege’s plans to help change how new grads get hired, CEO Roberto Angulo will be speaking at the ASU + GSV 2015 Summit on Wednesday, April 8th at 3:30 P.M. in Ballroom J.
