Honda Motor Co., Ltd. HMC announced that it will start selling the all-new Honda S660 and the S660 Concept Edition in dealerships across Japan from Apr 2, 2015. However, the company will sell only 660 units of the Concept Edition in Japan.

Honda’s S660 features a mid-ship engine/rear-wheel drive layout along with low center-of-gravity and 45–55 front-rear weight balance. These features help in reducing the moment of inertia in addition to improving traction performance and ensuring stable driving. The S660 also features the Agile Handing Assist electronic control system which helps the vehicle take smooth turns.

The S660 is designed with an open-top body which simultaneously offers high rigidity and light weight. The exterior design of the vehicle complements its dynamic performance. The vehicle’s interior is designed to provide the experience of a high quality, full-fledged sports car.

Honda’s S660 is equipped with a newly-developed 6-speed manual transmission which enables the maximum utilization of engine power. The S660 is also available with a Continuously Variable Transmission with 7-speed paddle shifter that features a sports mode. With this, the S660 offers a unique driving performance with easy handling.

Honda has also ensured safety features in the new S660. The vehicle offers enhanced occupant protection in the event of a rollover accident. It features driver’s and front passenger’s i-SRS airbag system along with an i-side airbag system, which absorbs the impact of a lateral collision. The S660 also features Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop Signal system. The vehicle’s City-Brake Active System offers automatic braking assistance at speeds less than 30km/h in order to prevent a collision with a vehicle in front.
