CGI Wins $27M 5-Year Contract with the North Wales Police

Zacks

Information technology company CGI Group Inc. GIB recently won a contract with the North Wales Police, under which it will provide the department with managed ICT (information and communications technology) and associated business services. The initial contract is valued at about £17.8 million ($27.4 million) and covers a five-year term.

Under the contract, CGI will optimize ICT service delivery and maximize efficiencies. CGI will leverage technology and assets in order to transform operations, and expects to unlock about £3.5 million ($5.4 million) in savings over the term of the contract.

The deal also includes options to extend the duration of the contract within the overall framework.

North Wales Police is already an established user of ICT, outsourcing and mobile services. CGI’s services and systems integration expertise will aid in accelerating the ongoing transformation programme and designing and managing a contemporary infrastructure for the agency.

CGI’s certified comprehensive support services will include designing a secure ICT infrastructure estate, networks, desktop and mobile environments, business and technical applications. Also, in order to make sure that the police force can take advantage of other industry innovators as the use of ICT progresses, CGI is offering third party supplier management capabilities.

The police and CGI's Cyber Security teams will collaborate to upgrade and manage data and systems security, in conformity with the security management framework and government needs. CGI will take part in community engagement with schools in the area, as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.

CGI’s services will assist it in making North Wales Police one of the most sophisticated and IT-enabled police forces in the UK.

Notably, CGI Group is the fifth largest independent IT and business process services firm globally. Just last week, Airbus Group renewed a three-year, multi-million euro contract with CGI for providing IT support to the former’s global human resources system.

Other stocks in the computer services industry that are worth a look include Carbonite, Inc. CARB, Innodata Inc. INOD and Ciber, Inc. CBR.
