Microchip (MCHP) Expands DAC Product Family for New Usage

Zacks

Leading microcontroller solutions provider Microchip Technology Inc MCHP recently announced the expansion of its Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) product line with non-volatile memory and I2 Compatible Serial Interface.

The new MCP47FEBXX devices feature 8-, 10- and 12-bit resolution, thereby providing design and cost flexibility. The new DAC devices consume less power and will feature integrated EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory). These devices are available in 8-pinTSSOP (Thin-Shrink Small Outline Packages) and the various shutdown modes reduce the current consumption for power critical applications.

These devices provide different voltage references with internal band gap, thus facilitating easier development. This provides flexibility for system designers and helps reduce costs suitable for a diverse range of applications and serve the consumer and industrial markets such as wireless microphones, mp3 player accessories and blood glucose test devices and applications.

The Analog business of Microchip has become one of the largest analog franchises in the market. In order to further capitalize on this burgeoning business potential, Microchip is developing and introducing a wide range of innovative and proprietary new products. The new invention will reinforce the company’s product portfolio and consequently augment its revenues in the near future.

Microchip develops and manufacturers microcontrollers, memory and analog and interface products for embedded control systems, which are small, low-power computers designed to perform specific tasks.

Microchip currently sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Other stocks that look promising and are worth considering in the industry now include Inphi Corp. IPHI, Analog Devices, Inc. ADI and M/A-Com Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. MTSI, each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
