Orchids Paper Products (TIS) Crumbles: Stock Falls by 8% – Tale of the Tape

Zacks

Orchids Paper Products Company (TIS) saw a big move last session, as the company’s shares fell nearly 8% on the day. The move came on pretty good volume too with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This continues the recent downtrend for TIS, as the stock is now down about 12% since Jan 22.

On Feb 4, the company announced its fourth-quarter 2014 results. Earnings per share fell short of expectations, as it missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 36 cents by a good 7 cents.

The manufacturer of tissue paper products has seen a flat track record when it comes to current year estimate revisions over the past few weeks and the consensus for earnings hasn’t been in a trend either. This recent price action is discouraging, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future, and especially on earnings estimates following the recent slump.

TIS currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Investors interested in the Paper & Related Products industry may consider better-ranked stock like Fibria Celulose SA (FBR), which carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
