Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (HMC) is launching numerous innovative products and technologies at the ongoing 2015 North American International Auto Show. The automaker expects these new products to benefit both the company and its customers. With the huge number of launches, Honda is celebrating 2015 as the “Year of Honda.”

The automaker showcased the Honda FCV Concept, which is a next-generation fuel cell vehicle, at the auto show. Honda will be launching the FCV in the U.S in 2016. The automaker also introduced the HondaJet advanced light jet, the Acura NSX mid-engine supercar, the UNI-CUB personal mobility device and the Honda Formula One racing.

Honda’s Acura brand launched the next-generation Acura NSX at the auto show on Jan 12. The automaker unveiled this highly anticipated version after 25 years of the original NSX supercar. Honda will start taking customer orders for the car this summer and it will be supplied from the latter half of 2015.

The HondaJet advanced light jet will be delivered to customers in North Carolina from this year after the Federal Aviation Administration type certification is achieved. It features the two GE-Honda HF120 turbofan engines.

Honda will relaunch its Formula One racing power with a new 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and hybrid-type kinetic and thermal energy recovery systems. The automaker will return to Formula One through a partnership with McLaren and drivers, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. This is slated for the opening race of the series in Melbourne, Australia on Mar 15, 2015.

Honda actively focused on research and development for creating multiple technologically-advanced products. The company will also be launching an all-new battery electric vehicle and an all-new plug-in hybrid vehicle by 2018. These will be utilizing Honda's two- and three-motor hybrid systems. Further, these will also support Honda's commitment to provide advanced powertrain technologies with ultra-low carbon mobility.

Honda will introduce the 2016 HR-V crossover in spring 2015 and the fully redesigned Pilot 8-passenger SUV this summer, followed by the new Ridgeline pickup truck in 2016. By the end of 2015, Honda will launch its new 4-cylinder VTEC Turbo engines. These engines will offer better driving experience along with fuel efficiency.

The company will be producing these at its Anna, OH engine plant, which is the largest automobile engine plant in the automaker’s global production network. Honda will also be investing $340 million in this plant for the development of these engines.

Recently, General Motors Company’s (GM) Chevrolet brand introduced the new 2016 Volt electric car at the Detroit auto show. This vehicle can travel 50 miles on a single charge and offers a sleeker and sportier design along with higher efficiency and better acceleration.
