Honda Motor Co., Ltd.’s (HMC) Acura brand launched the next-generation Acura NSX at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The automaker unveiled this highly anticipated version after 25 years of the original NSX supercar. Honda will start taking customer orders this summer and the vehicles will be supplied by the latter half of 2015.

Honda’s next-generation Acura NSX will be produced at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, OH. About 100 highly-skilled associates will be allocated for the body construction, paint and final assembly, using domestic and globally-sourced parts at this plant. As the body of the vehicle will be built at the plant itself, the quality including critical strength, suspension accuracy, and fit and finish are expected to be perfectly maintained.

Per Honda, its latest NSX will offer a new sports experience to the supercar segment. This is possible as the vehicle features an all-new power unit, a twin-turbocharged 75-degree DOHC V6 engine with a 9-speed dual clutch transmission and three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system.

While the original NSX was the first all-aluminum supercar, the new NSX is integrated with an ultra-rigid and lightweight multi-material body. The NSX also features an Advanced Sports Package with location of the key powertrain components including the mid-mounted engine, twin front motors, Sport Hybrid battery pack and power control unit in the center of the vehicle. The combination of this packaging and the lightweight body allows the lowest center of gravity to the vehicle.

Honda has developed the new NSX with an interwoven dynamic design which blends the sports car form with supercar function. The vehicle also features a Human Support Cockpit which provides exceptional driver control, visibility and packaging.

Honda believes that a vehicle makes an emotional connect with the driver. Per the automaker, the next-generation Acura NSX will offer a more intense and instant connection, and will immediately respond to the driver’s input.

Recently, General Motors Company’s (GM) Chevrolet brand introduced the new 2016 Volt electric car at the Detroit auto show. This vehicle can travel 50 miles on a single charge and offers a sleeker and sportier design along with higher efficiency and better acceleration.

Honda currently carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). Investors interested in the auto industry could consider better-ranked stocks like PACCAR Inc. (PCAR) and Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FUJHY), both carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
