Ford Motor Co. (F) unveiled three new vehicles under its Ford Performance lineup: the new GT, new Shelby GT350R Mustang and new F-150 Raptor. These vehicles are among the 12 new Ford Performance vehicles that will be launched by 2020.
The new GT, which is being promoted as an ultra-high-performance supercar, will be manufactured from late 2016. It will feature the next-generation twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that will provide over 600 horsepower. The car will also offer exceptional acceleration, enhanced efficiency and advanced active aerodynamics. Additionally, it will feature the new SYNC 3 connectivity system and custom-built Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires.
The new Shelby GT350R Mustang is a limited production vehicle, which will be sold in the U.S. and Canada later this year. It will feature the first-ever production V8 engine from Ford with a flat-plane crankshaft. The vehicle will offer lightweight carbon fiber wheels with Michelin’s top-shelf Pilot Sport Cup 2 high-performance tires as standard equipment, thus enhancing the performance. However, in order to reduce weight, the standard version of the new Shelby GT350R will not have air conditioning, stereo system, rear seats, trunk floorboard and carpet, backup camera, exhaust resonators and emergency tire sealer, and inflator.
The new F-150 Raptor has been fully reengineered to make it the “toughest, smartest, most capable” off-road pickup truck by Ford. It is built using high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy to reduce weight. It features the second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and offers six preset driving modes for various weather and road conditions. This off-road pickup truck will be manufactured at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant, and will go on sale in fall 2016.
