DTE Energy Boosts Agricultural Energy Efficiency Program

Zacks

Detroit, MI-based DTE Energy Company (DTE) announced that it has undertaken additional initiatives for enhancing agricultural energy-efficiency under its “Energy Efficiency Program for Business.”

With 20 new measures in place, agricultural community members in Michigan can apply for cash incentives to help them reimburse cost incurred for equipment upgrades. Accessible for both commercial and residential rate-code agriculture customers, this facility will aid them in lowering operating expenses.

The incentive will be provided on equipments like irrigation systems, refrigeration, grain dryers and also for equipments used in greenhouses and dairy operations.

As noted by the management, the company has stepped forward to help the agricultural community to save energy and benefit from monetary relief as they form the backbone of Michigan’s economy.

Launched in 2009, the Energy Efficiency Program for Business aims at providing a set of incentives to its business customers who implement cost-effective and energy efficient equipments to upgrade their facilities. This program is available to all electric and natural gas customers of DTE Energy.

Upon fulfilling certain criteria laid out by the company, customers billed under non-residential rates can make use of this facility. This facility is applicable to sectors including commercial, industrial, institutional, local government and state government.

In Dec 2014, this utility filed a rate-hike appeal to the Michigan Public Service Commission to recoup around $3.5 billion invested over the past four years for its infrastructure development projects, primarily to meet environmental mandates on carbon emissions at its power generation facilities (read: DTE Energy's Unit Files Electricity Rate Hike Appeal).
