Mirth, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (QSII), recently signed an agreement with Health Information Network of Arizona (HINAz).
HINAz, a statewide health information exchange (HIE) is operated by Arizona Health-e Connection (AzHeC). The network includes hospitals, physicians, health plans, reference labs and other healthcare organizations.
Per the agreement, Mirth will facilitate HINAz’s safe bidirectional exchange of patient health information among the latter's participants. In addition, Mirth will provide a technology upgrade to include four new service offerings: Direct Exchange; Admission-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) Alerts and Results Notifications; Public Health Reporting Gateway and eHealth Exchange.
Of late, Quality Systems has been entering into a series of strategic partnerships. In order to expand its footprint in the dental market, the company’s dental division signed an agreement with Patterson Dental, a business division of Patterson Companies (PDCO). Per the deal, Quality Systems will leverage Patterson Dental’s special market division sales force.
In another development, NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, inked a deal with Merge Healthcare (MRGE). The collaboration will enable smooth transaction of electronic imaging orders and imaging reports between customers of NextGen Share and those of Merge iConnect Network.
NextGen Healthcare Information Systems also signed an agreement with Gila River Health Care (GRHC), under which the latter will use NextGen Ambulatory EHR, NextGen Practice Management and NextPen.
We feel the string of strategic partnerships will better the long-term prospects of Quality Systems and eventually boost its top-line growth. Moreover, the alliances will stand well in the face of stiff competition from the likes of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (MDRX) and McKesson Corp.
