“This was a strategic acquisition for us,” said Terlato Wines CEO William A. Terlato. “We’ve been working with Michel Rolland for more than a year now, fine-tuning a number of our wines and increasing attention on our vineyards and farming. We are fortunate to have secured some exceptional vineyard assets that allow us to provide our winemakers the best fruit to work with. Collaborating with Michel and his team, we appreciated the value of securing access to the outstanding fruit grown in the Juliana Vineyard on a permanent basis.”

The Terlato family previously had a long-term lease on the Juliana Vineyard and developed the vineyard in 1998. The property is planted principally to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which is used in Rutherford Hill Merlot and select Rutherford Hill Bordeaux-style blends.

“The fruit we get from the Juliana Vineyard is excellent,” said Marisa Taylor, winemaker and general manager at Rutherford Hill Winery. “It enables us to craft a Merlot that is consistently delicious and characteristic of Napa Valley, and the Cabernet Franc from Juliana lends character to some of our red blends as well.”
