PPG Industries Expands SEMCO Sealant Removal Tools Line

PPG Industries Inc. (PPG) announced that it has broadened its line of SEMCO sealant removal tools with ergonomically-designed scrapers. The new ergonomic SEMCO tools have a unique handle-design that is intended to reduce operator fatigue and improve removal efficiency.

These tools enable the aircraft workers and maintenance personnel to choose the scraper that best suits their needs to make sealant removal easier. SEMCO packaging & application systems makes packaging materials that are intended to store, mix, dispense, apply and remove specialty chemicals used in manufacturing, and repair environments that help the aerospace industry.

The tools are designed to last longer than the conventional tools. Five tools are made of glass-filled nylon materials for more difficult operations, while the remaining five have been designed for standard sealant removal by hand are made of CELCON acetal copolymer (POM). These tools vary in widths in order to facilitate standard and difficult sealant removal by hand and can be sharpened for continued use.

PPG Industries posted healthy third-quarter 2014 results in Oct 2014. Adjusted earnings for the quarter topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Reported profit surged on gains across major regions, especially Europe, and the company’s cost reduction initiatives. The company expects its strong earnings performance to continue in the fourth quarter.

PPG Industries has a diversified business and holds a leading position in several paints and coatings end markets. It is taking steps to grow its business inorganically by making a number of acquisitions.

PPG Industries currently carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
