Zacks

A joint venture between Integrys Energy Group, Inc.’s (TEG) unit Trillium CNG and ampCNG, amp Trillium, LLC, announced that it has opened a public access compressed natural gas (“CNG”) station in the city of Canton, OH.

ampCNG works towards popularizing CNG as a transportation fuel for the trucking industry. Apart from selling fuel, this owner of pipelines in more than 25 stations provides truck leasing services and sources renewable forms of natural gas (R-CNG).

Situated at 4011 16th Street Southwest, the latest CNG station will serve its anchor tenant, Frito-Lay North America. Frito-Lay partnered with Trillium CNG for building this public fueling infrastructure to provide for its fleet of heavy-duty, Class 8 CNG tractor trailers.

The amp Trillium station is equipped with Trillium CNG's fast-fill proprietary hydraulic intensifier (HY-C) technology facilitating three Class-8 trucks to simultaneously fuel at 10-12 gasoline gallon equivalents (“GGE”) per minute.

Recently Unveiled CNG Stations

In Nov 2014, amp Trillium further expanded its CNG station count by opening the first Texas public access CNG fueling station in Sweetwater. This station, also equipped with the fast-fill hydraulic intensifier technology, is a part of an agreement with Dairy Farmers of America and Select Milk Producers for opening seven public CNG stations. To date, the joint venture has opened four public CNG stations as a part of this agreement.

Trillium CNG had launched its first public CNG station at Dillon Transport, 4612 S. 50th St. in Tampa, FL last year. Dillon Transport inked a fuel purchase agreement with Trillium CNG to service Dillon Transport’s fleet of 55 semi-trailer trucks.

Integrys Energy first set its footprint in the CNG business with the acquisition of two operating businesses involved in CNG fueling, Pinnacle CNG Systems and Trillium USA, from Wagner & Brown Ltd in 2011.

Given its low-cost and clean burning nature, CNG is more attractive as a transportation fuel in the wake of stringent environmental laws in the U.S.
