A supplier of semiconductor components to defense, aerospace, industrial and communications markets, Microsemi Corporation (MSCC) recently unveiled PD-OUT/SP11, an outdoor lightning protection device with high reliability. The device is now available for sale.
PD-OUT/SP11 is a waterproof, easily mountable, single-port device that supports both Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and non-PoE enterprise installations and can work with network equipment from any supplier.
The device is equipped to protect indoor Ethernet networks from lightning that can move along the Ethernet cable and damage expensive IT installations.
The device can also be used in outdoor installations including security cameras and wireless LAN access points (AP).

Microsemireported decent fourth quarter of fiscal 2014 results with both top- and bottom-line figures exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate, driven by strong demand for its products. Its adjusted earnings of 56 cents per share exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4 cents and revenues of $303.3 million were up 3.8% sequentially and 21.1% year over year.
