Delta (DAL) to Expand Porsche Service to 3 More Airports

Zacks

In an attempt to enhance its business opportunities and improve customer services further, airline behemoth Delta Air Lines, Inc. (DAL) announced the decision to expand its customer Porsche service to three more airports by Nov 30, 2014. The Atlanta-based airline said that its highly successful transfer service will be expanded to include New York’s LaGuardia airport, Seattle-Tacoma international airport and Detroit metropolitan airport.

Delta stated in its press release that owing to the partnership, over 35,000 high-value customers in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul and New York-JFK have been transported in the past year.

The expansion of the transfer service will enable high value clients (select SkyMiles Diamond Medallion customers) to be transferred in Porsche vehicles from gate-to-gate on the tarmac. The program was initiated in 2011 as a trial at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson international airport. Delta’s Porsche service was expanded in 2013 to Los Angeles, New York-JFK and Minneapolis-St. Paul. The airline said that it currently uses 19 Porsche vehicles to transfer customers swiftly between connecting gates.

Diamond Medallion customers can neither request for this transfer service nor reserve it. Instead, it depends on a number of factors such as the day's flight operations, connection times between flights and a member's status.

We expect Delta, which recorded impressive third-quarter 2014 results last month, to generate higher revenues in 2014 than last year on a strong domestic market, capacity discipline, route expansion, cost-control measures and customer-focused initiatives. The expansion of the highly successful Porsche service should benefit the company further.
