Zacks

Engineering and technical services provider Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) recently received a contract worth $282 million from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract will entail SAIC to provide tailored logistics support (TLS) for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) to the Department of Defense (DoD) and federal installations located in Hawaii, Guam and Kwajalein Atoll.

According to the terms of the agreement, SAIC will replenish supplies and equipment required for the successful completion of the facilities’ missions. The company will employ its commercial business practices to minimize MRO logistics cost for DLA and its customers by providing on-time sourcing, procurement and delivery of supplies and incidental services.

The contract reinforces the business relationship of SAIC with the U.S. DoD that dates back to 1998. Over the years, SAIC has developed a niche market by delivering cost-effective maintenance and support services to DLA and their clients in the Hawaii region. The current contract is a testament to its proven expertise in this field.

SAIC provides technical, engineering and enterprise IT services in the U.S., with its government segment serving the U.S. federal, state and local government agencies as well as foreign governments. Since its inception in 1969, SAIC has utilized its domain knowledge to solve critically important problems of the country in areas such as national security, energy and the environment, critical infrastructure, and health.

The company presently has employee strength of approximately 13,000, serving customers in the U.S. government civil agencies and selected commercial markets. A leading pure-play technical service provider to the U.S. government, SAIC is the chief contractor on 91% of premier federal contract vehicles.

SAIC currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other players in the industry worth mentioning include Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO), Barracuda Networks, Inc. (CUDA) and GTT Communications, Inc. (GTT), each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
